Creating a Portrait
How Your Portrait Is Made
Every commission is a quiet collaboration — from the first photographs to the final wash of colour.
Beginning Your Portrait
Barbara becomes inspired after studying the photographs you send, or that she takes on site. Together you discuss the painting — its dimensions, seasonal elements, composition and pricing.
Setting the Vision
After the pencil drawing is made, you have the opportunity to make changes before Barbara begins to work in pen and ink.
Getting More from the Work
When the pen and ink is completed, it can be photographed to be replicated on notepaper, stationery, a Christmas card, a t-shirt — or whatever you wish.
Bringing It to Life
Painting your portrait in watercolour and gouache is the final process — and it brings the drawing to life.
Each house portrait is architecturally correct, while capturing the beauty and charm of every unique property.Barbara Bellin
